The whiplash with rejections is kind of funny. Again, I received a rejection 7/18/2026 that actually didn’t hurt. I was a little sad that this story didn’t quite fit what they were looking for (or my writing still isn’t quite up to their standards given that it’s a form rejection), but it didn’t sting like the previous one.
Again this was a quick turnaround rejection, and perhaps that is why it doesn’t hurt so much? We’ll keep on the grind. This story, I admit, however, is one that I feel might not really fit a traditional publication.
I’ve gotten some really good feedback on this story recently too, so I will finish the revision and send it out again.
Note on letter images: I have here and will always black out the name of the market and the name of the person who sent the letter. These posts are not meant to speak about the publications at all. These are about my reactions to the letters and what I can learn from them.
