Rejection number twenty for the year came in on August 25th. It even came with a complimentary three-month subscription to the magazine, which is interesting. I know, I know, I should be reading deeply into the magazines I’m submitting to, but honestly, I can’t read every single magazine in existence.
This is not to say I’m not reading short fiction at all. I am, but I have to prioritize my time. There’s only so many hours in the day, and unfortunately, I am not a full-time writer. Perhaps when I (theoretically) am working on my writing full time, I can devote specific hours to reading short fiction, specific hours to novels, and specific hours to writing.
Note on letter images: I have here and will always black out the name of the market and the name of the person who sent the letter. These posts are not meant to speak about the publications at all. These are about my reactions to the letters and what I can learn from them.
