My Writing Journey #4: We’re Back Baby!

Oh hello check-in!

He he, well, um, if you’re looking at dates, you’ll note that the most recent post was in April. My intended posting schedule got a little blown up. Why? The answer is technology and WordPress updates. Updates, not for my website, but rather my spouse’s website for his business. His website hadn’t been updated in…some amount of time…(we’re not gonna talk about that part).

Because our sites are hosted through the same account, our sites run on the same version of php at any given time. Because of the difference in age of our individual sites (mine’s, ya know, brand new), there is no php version that would run both of our sites. Given that this site does not generate income for us (yet?), but my spouse’s site is his business website. It’s a vital part of his business.

And we could only have one site operating at a given time until we did a complete rebuild of his site.

So yeah. We rather understandably kept his up while we worked on the rebuild. During that time, if you’d tried to pull up this site, you simply received an error. Meanwhile, WordPress kept chugging in the background, stealth-posting my scheduled posts in the meantime. So despite the dates on posts, it’s been significantly longer since my site’s been up and running.
But we’re back!!!!!!

Since my last update, my number of short story submissions has increased to 11, and my short story rejections have climbed to 7! But that’s not all! I have also submitted my science fiction manuscript to three agents and received one rejection so far. That brings my total rejections up to 8!

I have one story that has been under review since 1/28/2026 with an estimated turnaround time of 100 days (we’re well past that, lolz). I have another story that has been out since 2/7/2026 with an expectation of 120 days for review, which will arrive on 6/4/2026. All this to say we should expect some additional rejections soon!

This also means I am way behind on rejection responses. So that’s my first priority moving forward, rejection responses. In the interest of getting caught up on my rejections, I am considering upping my posting schedule until I’m up-to-date. Hopefully soon we’ll have an acceptance, but I’m doing my darnedest to keep my expectations chill.

With that, I’m out! I hope you all have a wonderful time!
