This post is slightly different because I don’t have a rejection letter to include. It’s for the third agent I submitted my science fiction manuscript to back in May. One agent has a policy of “no response after eight weeks is a polite no.” Well that eight-week timeline expired on 7/10/2026, so I’m including it in my rejections here.
Is it possible that this agent might suddenly come back to me? Sure. It’s possible. Almost certainly, however, it won’t happen. I will say that this particular “no response means no” is frustrating because the submission was through Query Manager/Tracker. It’s almost a push button method to reject. I need to remind myself that I genuinely don’t know exactly how many submissions the agent gets, and so perhaps even push button responses bog down their processes.
Note on letter images: I have omitted here and will always black out the name of the market and the name of the person who sent the letter. These posts are not meant to speak about the publications at all. These are about my reactions to the letters and what I can learn from them.
